My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 400: The Duality of Siblings
Chapter 400: The Duality of Siblings
As the battle at the Iron Capital kept brewing in chaos, Sage Louie managed to broadcast the events to the entire world.
Citizens in every country in almost every town had stopped what they were doing to spectate the battle on the giant screens that Louie’s crystals produced.
The sage’s spell allowed him to control which scene he wanted to show, as the man had a magical interface that looked like a virtual menu.
The scene switched to that of Yuki, the princess of Kyotora, leading her men inside the city rings while fighting a pack of greater demons.
Her family, watching from their palace, instantly perked up with worry and excitement as the live feed showed the black-haired princess moving skillfully along the battlefield and taking down her enemies.
Even her older brother, Takeo, who was stripped of his title to become the next ruler, felt nervous when seeing his sister on the screen.
The sage then changed the scene to Princess Keiko from Lotus, who was accompanied by five of her strongest royal guards who protected her while she cleansed any cursed citizen they stumbled upon in the middle of the chaos.
On a completely different side of the city, the twins Luca and Florencia were fighting the emperor, who had a power level close to the sages.
When Louie changed to that scene, the king of Vista rose from his seat with distress, as he knew that the emperor of the north was quite powerful.
Nonetheless, the king was surprised to see that both of his children were keeping up with the man. Even when they had a few bruises and scratches on them, their determination didn’t falter.
During their encounter, Florencia used ice magic to freeze the emperor’s feet to the ground, allowing Luca to launch himself at the man with wind magic and his sword in hand.
The emperor, however, released a torrent of MP that broke the ice beneath him as he waved his sword horizontally, making Luca cover himself as he was flung to the side with force.
Florencia tried countering at that moment, slashing the emperor’s arm with her blade before getting pushed away by the emperor’s fire magic.
The twins knew that they didn’t have enough power to match the emperor’s, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t win.
Their mission was to hold the emperor in place so that he would stop following Ichiro around, but the twins believed that with a little strategy, they could eventually beat him.
Luca stood up from the rubbles, a drop of blood coming down his head, and started shooting wind slices at the emperor, who either avoided them or deflected the slashes with his sword.
Still, Luca knew that his spells wouldn’t be enough to reach him, but they were good enough to catch his attention as Florencia cast a powerful fire spell.
When the emperor sensed a great amount of MP coming from Florencia’s charge, the man rushed at the princess, holding his massive sword with two hands. However, he couldn’t get close to her after releasing a burning wave that traveled at least twenty meters from her position.
Thorun was pushed back while covering his face with his arms, which got severely burnt from the attack, letting out a smirk to the twins.
"Not bad at all..." The emperor muttered.
Without giving them any time to react, Thorun suddenly appeared beside Florencia, who raised an arm to protect herself but was met with a kick on the gut that sent her flying into a building.
"Sis!" Luca exclaimed, rushing at the emperor with a bit of desperation.
Thorun easily deflected his attacks and hit him in the face with the handle of his sword, breaking Luca’s nose and pushing him back.
"Luca, calm down!" Florencia shouted as she got out of the mountain of debris that landed on top of her, grabbing her left arm, which was seemingly broken.
At that moment, Luca remembered one of Ichiro’s lessons and how he explained that getting desperate could lead to terrible decisions.
"If you are feeling angry or frustrated, try to channel those emotions into your magic, but don’t let them get a hold of you..." Luca remembered Ichiro’s words, making him take a deep breath.
’Channel those emotions into my magic...’ he thought.
A few seconds later, the emperor noticed that the MP flowing from Luca had gotten much calmer. However, he felt a sense of danger stemming from the serenity the boy suddenly found himself in.
With a smirk on his face, the emperor rushed at Luca, who calmly raised his palm and pointed it at his opponent, producing a gust of wind that was so strong that the emperor felt like his extremities were about to get ripped apart from his body.
Thorun took a prompt step to the side, away from the wind, but the closer he got to Luca, the stronger the gust was.
The princess used that moment to cast another fire wave, and as both attacks flew at the emperor simultaneously, the man smiled, waving his sword with all of his strength and reducing the damage he took from the spells.
The twins followed it up with a physical attack, thinking that the emperor would be unable to move after taking such a hit.
When the two of them got closer, they felt their chests being sliced as they were sent flying back into an iron wall, where the two sat on the ground with their heads looking down.
The emperor walked towards the twins, making them raise their gaze at the man.
"That was a good battle. You can die a warrior’s death..." The emperor said.
However, the blood-covered twins let out a slight smile that caught the man by surprise.
"I don’t know about that..." Luca muttered.
Suddenly, the emperor felt a chill down his spine as danger approached him from behind, making him quickly turn around to see what was coming.
Nevertheless, as soon as his torso spun, a long, double-edged blade went through his heart.
*Cough* "Brother..." The emperor muttered after coughing blood, seeing his sibling, Thorgest, on the other side of the blade.
Thorgest then waved his sword upwards and sliced from his chest out of his shoulder, making the emperor flop on his back.
"It’s over..." Thorgest said with a somber tone.
"And so it is... What kind of emperor will you be...?" The emperor asked in a raspy and unenergetic tone, lying on the cold ground.
"A peaceful one," his brother replied, locking his gaze with Thorun’s.
"Heh, how boring..." The emperor said, letting out his last breath before passing away.
After making sure that Thorun was dead, Thorgest quickly approached the twins, who had several broken bones and couldn’t move, feeding them a healing potion.
Still, getting healed with potions took some stamina, depending on the size and severity of the wound, so the twins were feeling quite tired, even though their injuries were gone.
"I can’t thank you two enough..." Thorgest commented.
Luca and Florencia looked down with a bit of apprehension, unable to look at the man in the eyes.
"What’s wrong? Do you guys need another potion?" Thorgest asked, crouching down to get on their eye level.
"I’m sorry..." The twins muttered simultaneously, making the man raise an eyebrow with confusion.
At that moment, he vaguely understood what the young twins were thinking.
"It wasn’t your fault..." Thorgest said.
"I knew I would end up killing my brother in the future ever since we were kids. It was painful to think about it, but we were brought up differently from you..." the man explained.
The twins felt a bit guilty at the fact that Thorgest had to kill his own brother, as they could have saved him the trouble if they had been strong enough to defeat him themselves. freēwēbnovel.com
"You are probably thinking that you wouldn’t be able to do the same if you were in my position..." Thorgest commented, catching the twins’ attention as the man was on the spot.
"That just speaks volumes to the relationship you guys have. I can say with the utmost certainty that this fate won’t fall on you two..." he continued.
The twins nodded, feeling a little more relieved after hearing the man’s words, but the battle in the Iron Capital wasn’t over.
"Let’s get you out of here!" Thorgest exclaimed, getting ready to carry them up on his shoulders.
"We got it!" A man yelled from the skies, wearing full armor and descending beside them.
’A Sephyr knight?’ Florencia pondered as she spotted the man.
"I’ll take the twins back to the camp. Princess Melina is currently fighting Baelzor..." the knight said.
"We gotta help her," Luca muttered, trying to stand up but failing miserably.
"I’ll go. You guys need some rest, or you are going to get in her way," Thorgest replied, giving the knight a nod of acknowledgment and rushing out of the scene.
Meanwhile, the Sephyr knight took the twins on his shoulder and started flying back to the camp at high speeds.
