Chapter 401: Melina and Nessa Vs. Baelzor

After the death of the emperor was broadcast worldwide, the people in the country of Vista cheered for the twins and their victory.

Their celebration only lasted for a few seconds as Sage Louie changed the screen to show Melina and Nessa in a heated battle against Baelzor.

The people who were watching the screens in their hometowns were surprised to see a devil fighting alongside Princess Melina.

The rulers of the Sephyr Kingdom got up from their seats as soon as the woman was on the screen, anxiously clenching their fists.

Prince Darius and Princess Alexandra, Melina’s siblings, held their hands nervously, keeping their gazes locked on the screen.

In the second ring of the Iron Capital, Melina rushed straight ahead towards Baelzor with her estoc in hand, releasing an onslaught of stab attacks that Baelzor skillfully avoided.

Nevertheless, Melina wasn’t fighting alone. As the devil focused on avoiding the princess’ attacks, Nessa appeared from the side and used her knee to kick him in the face.

Nessa’s demonic energy was fluctuating, which Melina noticed almost instantly.

’She is not releasing her full power...’ The princess thought.

Melina knew that Nessa and Jackson had been keeping their demonic energy sealed inside them for many years, as it was the only way for them to live among humans.

Sealing their demonic energy wasn’t something that devils would usually do since it made it a bit more difficult for them to control their powers later on. It was a skill they developed if they were ready to surrender those powers.

However, thanks to Ichiro and Melina’s solidarity, Nessa didn’t have to hide her energy anymore, and she decided to use her powers to help the people who believed in her.

As her horns grew slightly in size, Nessa’s eyes glowed pink like her hair, and her fangs came out of her mouth. Her hands became sharper, and her nails turned into claws.

Baelzor wielded a massive double-edged sword with spikes on it, and when Nessa released a barrage of attacks, the devil started to struggle to keep her away.

During the attack, Melina caught Baelzor by surprise and stabbed him in the ribs with her estoc, making the devil release a dark aura around him that pushed the princess and Nessa back a few meters away.

With a frown, the devil took off his coat, showcasing the wound on his torso, which was slowly healing.

The dark aura around his body got thicker and more intimidating, but Nessa and Melina confidently stood their ground against it.

’That’s not his true form...’ Melina pondered.

From experience, the princess knew that devils slowly powered up throughout their battles until they transformed into their real figures.

If the princess used her awakening too early and didn’t manage to finish off the devil with it, she would be left tired with no MP and a devil who still has one transformation under their sleeve.

Still, she could tell that Baelzor was close to releasing his full power, as his body was already changing.

Black spikes extruded out of Baelzor’s back and shoulders, red veins appeared on his ashen white skin, his horns grew significantly in size, and a red hue completely obscured his eyes.

Without letting out a warning, Nessa launched herself at the devil with her claws at the ready, only to get stopped by Baelzor as he gripped her arm and threw her against an iron building on the side.

The pink-haired devil’s attack was followed up by Melina, who had sheathed her sword to use both of her hands for her next spell.

Appearing beside Baelzor, a small ball of electricity was produced between her hands, making the demon widen his eyes with fear as she released it.

*BOOM!* An explosion made the dirt and snow rise from the ground, shrouding the view of the crystal that was broadcasting the fight to the spectators.

Strands of lightning could be seen coming from within the mist, dispersing abruptly into a vortex where Melina and Baelzor had clashed, showcasing the burnt arm of the devil. At the same time, his blade was slightly buried under Melina’s shoulder.

The princess gritted her teeth and kicked Baelzor in the gut, pushing him away from her as the blade slid out of her shoulder, prompting her royal blood to ooze out and drip onto the cold ground.

"Melina!" Nessa shouted, rushing towards the princess to stand beside her.

"I’m fine. Don’t stop!" Melina shouted back, but it was too late.

Nessa had lost her focus on Baelzor for a few seconds, which was enough for the devil to relish the opportunity, appearing right beside her and waving his sword horizontally, aiming at her neck.

The pink-haired devil got hit with a sudden spark of intuition that made her duck to avoid getting her head cut off. Nevertheless, Baelzor managed to cut one horn before she flung him away with a kick on the chin.

When Melina was about to open her void pocket to get a potion, she looked up into the sky and saw Arashi flying above them, dropping a vial down to her location.

Baelzor shouted with anger loudly as blood dripped down his mouth from Nessa’s kick, raising his sword with both hands over his head as the blade was fully encased with a blood-red flame.

"Hellfire!" Baelzor shouted, slicing down and generating a wave of hellfire that traveled straight to Melina and Nessa.

The princess could instantly tell that she wouldn’t be able to fully protect herself and Nessa from the attack, as it was purely based on demonic energy with not even a pinch of MP for her to manipulate.

In that brief second that felt like a whole minute to the princess, she deeply exhaled as her MP revolved around her body, making her aquamarine eyes glow beautifully.

’Ichi called this... Soft Awakening,’ Melina thought, her eyes sharp and focused.

Placing her hand on the cold ground, she raised a tall and thick wall of ice before them, temporarily protecting them from the hellfire attack.

As the fire encased the wall and began to destroy it, Melina grabbed Nessa by the waist and carried her out of that location to the side, safely avoiding the mysterious flame.

When the dust dissipated, Baelzor felt a slight tingle of fear when he spotted Melina in her soft awakening state, releasing a cold aura around her body that froze the ground she walked on.
