My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 408: The Earth Dragon’s Power
Chapter 408: The Earth Dragon’s Power
As I felt my body abruptly shutting down from the blood stings that Drakzen managed to land on me, he hit me with a shadow bolt that pushed me back a few meters and made me land on my back.
Drakzen implied that his blood was poisonous, but it felt much more potent than anything I had experienced.
Still, I kept my composure as I struggled to get on my knees, prompting the devil to rush towards me again with his blade high in the air.
When Drakzen stood before me, he grinned evilly and prepared himself to execute me. However, his expression changed when he noticed I wasn’t the least bit bothered by him.
In the split second that Drakzen waved his sword down, my dearest companion, Yoru, materialized from my shadow in his humanoid form, extruding a powerful aura from his body and deflecting the devil’s blade with his claws.
*Clank!* The sound of Drakzen’s blade getting parried echoed as sparks showered us, followed by Yoru doing a flying kick and striking him in the face, pushing him away from us.
My companion didn’t say anything, but as soon as Drakzen was pushed back, Yoru dropped a holy panacea right next to me, making me smirk.
By the time Drakzen raised his head back to look at me, I was already standing mere centimeters away from him with my staff in hand, placing the purple orb against his chest and releasing a wave of gravity.
I was expecting to make the devil’s body burst, but his constitution was quite durable, and he ended up coughing blood and getting pushed against another snowy hill.
"Yoru..." I muttered to my companion, to which he nodded confidently—No words were needed between us at that moment.
Drakzen released a nova of demonic energy around him to blast away the rocks and snow that had fallen on top of him, only to be met with our barrage of attacks.
Yoru hit him with an uppercut to the chin, and I followed up by slamming my bo against his stomach as hard as I could.
It was the first time I had seen Drakzen make such a face, his eyes and jaw open wide as he was flung against the tip of the hill, completely destroying it.
Drakzen let out a warcry when he stood up, but once again, he was met with both my and Yoru’s barrage of attacks that were slowly whittling him down of his strength.
Suddenly, the devil’s eyes sharpened, and we felt a surge of energy coming from the ground below us, making Yoru and me take a step back with caution.
Not even a second after we moved away, massive earth spikes rose from the ground and surrounded Drakzen, pushing us away from continuing our onslaught.
*Tch!* I clicked my tongue with a bit of annoyance and looked up into the skies, noticing the Earth Dragon and Fuego fighting above us.
"Did you need reinforcements?" I asked Drakzen. My question was sarcastic, but the awakening didn’t really let me make those emotions clear, so it sounded as if I were utterly stoic about it.
"Heh... Not bad, Ichiro," Drakzen muttered.
"I never would’ve guessed that little moonwolf would turn into this... You must have raised him well," he continued, letting out an evil smile from ear to ear.
"But, you see... I also raise my pets well!" he exclaimed, opening his arms to the side and releasing a torrent of demonic energy.
"AHAHAHA, now what will you do, Ichiro!?" Drakzen loudly screamed, making me feel a sudden and extremely powerful aura behind me.
As soon as I turned around, I noticed that the walls around the Iron Capital were shaking as the ground below slowly separated from the earth.
"What are you..." I tried to speak up, but I was cut off when the entire city started to levitate above the ground, slowly getting higher in the air.
It was a sight like none other I had seen in this world, and it was all being done by the Earth Dragon’s magic.
The higher the Iron Capital got the more area its shade covered, obscuring the entire battlefield.
"Baelzor is dead, so you left me with no choice..." Drakzen commented as Yoru and I watched the city float in shock.
’If Baelzor is dead, then that means that the imps are gone...!’ I thought.
We had most of our troops inside the city walls, as Frost’s ice knights were fighting in the outskirts with the mind-controlled soldiers.
Realistically, it would have been better for us if the ice knights had been inside the city while the others were on the outskirts, but we couldn’t have known that the Earth Dragon would have made the entire city float.
Now, not only our troops but the innocent citizens and soldiers who were still inside the city walls were in danger.
"Vespera!" I shouted as loud as I could.
["I’m on it!"] My companion answered telepathically.
I was going to tell her to bring everyone she could to safety, and she must have known already since she was already doing it.
"Mel... are you there!?" I asked, using the voice crystal that was stuck to my engagement ring, receiving no answer from her.
["I got her!"] A voice replied to my message.
"Nessa!?" I exclaimed.
["Yes. I’ll get Melina out of here!"] the pink-haired devil replied.
I felt a bit better knowing that Melina was accompanied by Nessa, but we still had to do something about the city, which was already around a hundred meters up in the air.
If we managed to kill the Earth Dragon now, the entire city would come down. However, I couldn’t think of anything else.
Even if I tried using my own magic to combat the Earth Dragon’s power and bring the city back down, it wasn’t as simple as it sounded, considering it was the ’Earth’ dragon, so this was his specialty.
’For now... we need to focus on evacuating people from the city,’ I thought, but then again, it wasn’t a simple task.
Not everyone in our army could fly. In fact, only the knights that came from Sephyr were able to fly around the battlefield, so we didn’t have enough people to carry the citizens down to the ground.
"Yoru, let’s go!" I said to my companion, bolting toward the city as quickly as possible and leaving Drakzen behind... for now.
