My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 411: Loss
Chapter 411: Loss
As the meteors came crashing down from the skies all over the battlefield, Drakzen began quickly moving and sliding around to avoid being caught in the explosions.
His undead soldiers were being annihilated by the meteor shower, and as he kept rushing in between his forces, I started to pursue him.
My bo was stuck on the ground and would keep on bringing down asteroids until I was out of MP, so I relished the opportunity and followed him around the battlefield in my awakened state.
At one point, I managed to catch Drakzen from the side and used gravity magic to push him into one of the falling meteors, making him crash his back against it.
Without letting him take a breather, I followed it up with another attack, using gravity to make myself heavier while I kicked Drakzen in the face.
A few drops of blood came out of his mouth, and when I noticed the blood suddenly suspended in the air, I waved my hand to the side, knowing that Drakzen would shoot blood projectiles at me.
Honestly, it wasn’t something I would have noticed if I weren’t in my awakened state. Luckily, the gravity force was able to deflect the blood needles to the side.
Drakzen kept frantically moving around the battlefield to avoid getting caught in the meteors, which were still relentlessly crashing down on his forces.
All we could hear were the continuous, loud explosions going off around us.
For some reason, it seemed like my awakening allowed me to predict exactly where the next meteors would land, so I didn’t have to worry about avoiding my own attack, as it came naturally to me.
On the other hand, Drakzen seemed to be getting a little more desperate, which was the first time I had seen him in such a pinch.
However, out of all the falling projectiles that came crashing down from the sky, there was one that I couldn’t predict.
It happened quite fast, but everything seemed to slow down momentarily for me when I sensed danger.
I jumped high in the air to avoid it and noticed that it was the Earth Dragon and Fuego who crashed down along with the meteors.
My eyes widened in shock, seeing Fuego biting into the Earth Dragon’s neck with his jaw locked.
*Bling!* I heard a strange bell, which seemed to be produced by the dragon egg in my backpack.
*BOOM!* A final, deafening explosion raised a curtain of dirt and snow as the last meteor landed on the ground right after the two dragons.
When I waved my hand and used wind magic to dissipate the smoke, I saw Fuego in his humanoid form, kneeling before the corpse of the Earth Dragon.
The dragon was dead, and Fuego was wholly out of MP. Still, when I looked to the side, I spotted Drakzen approaching them from behind.
I tried to move my body to catch up to him. Nevertheless, as soon as I took one step, my awakening state abruptly ended, leaving me without a pinch of stamina and making me drop to my knees.
Drakzen had lost an arm during the meteor shower, but the devil was able to move using blood magic and stood behind Fuego, who couldn’t move a muscle either.
"I gotta say... That was quite difficult," Drakzen muttered, his face not showing a hint of sarcasm like before.
I kept on struggling, trying to move my body to attack him, but my arms and legs were shivering from exhaustion.
"Still, I must thank you... Ichiro," Drakzen said.
"With this, it should be enough..." he continued.
’Stop!’ I thought, but no words came out of my mouth.
*Shink!* I heard the sound of a sharp blade, prompting me to look forward at the dragons.
When I noticed the scene, I winced and felt a knot in my throat, seeing two large blades made of blood impaling Fuego by his two shoulders.
At that moment, everything fell silent, and all I could hear was the sound of my own fast breathing and my thoughts. freёnovelkiss.com
’Is this really happening...?’ I pondered.
’Move, Ichiro!!’ I continued, feeling a sense of desperation and impotence.
Nonetheless, my efforts were to no avail, and my despair only grew stronger when Drakzen pulled out his strange, black vial, where he had been gathering the blood of dead, powerful beasts.
After opening the vial’s cork with his teeth, the bodies of the two dragons began getting absorbed, prompting Drakzen to smile at me with a defiant expression that enraged me.
It only took a few seconds for the bodies to be absorbed entirely, and as soon as it was finished, Drakzen took out his wings and hovered a few meters up in the air.
"Finally... It is done!" Drakzen shouted, letting out a maniacal laughter.
"Don’t worry, Sage Ichiro... After I show you a glimpse of the new world, I’ll end your life with the respect you deserve," he continued.
Drakzen threw the black vial upwards and pointed his palm at it, causing it to explode and shatter in the air, releasing a massive black cloud that rose to the skies.
The sky on the battlefield was a bit dark since the meteor shower produced a ton of smoke. However, Drakzen’s cloud only made it worse.
As every cloud turned obsidian and the sky turned red, a powerful earthquake hit our location—I didn’t know it at the time, but the quake was felt all over the world.
"Come to us, King Xalathas!" Drakzen shouted with a smile, turning his gaze back at me.
It seemed like Drakzen was going to finish me off, and right as he rushed towards me and extended his arm, a spear came flying and stabbed his forearm, launching him to the side.
"Damnit, Jaterno!" Drakzen exclaimed, holding his bleeding arm in pain.
From the other side, I saw Jackson rushing to help me, and I suppose that my body must have felt safe at that moment since it ultimately gave out, and I lost consciousness.
’Did I... Lose?’ I thought, closing my eyes and lying on the cold ground.
