Chapter 413: The Old Devil Continent

After I lost consciousness fighting Drakzen, I woke up inside the castle at the Iron Capital, seeing Yoru lying next to me, who was waiting for me to open my eyes.

I was a bit confused at first, but then a wave of intense sadness washed over me as I remembered the last few minutes of the battle with Drakzen.

"Fuego...!" I exclaimed, sitting up on the bed.

A few seconds later, Melina entered the room and rushed to the bed to hug me as soon as she saw I was awake. While I was glad to hug my wife, I couldn’t shake the somber feeling off my chest.

Behind Melina, Vespera and Jackson walked in, with my familiar rushing to the bed and accompanying my wife in hugging me.

When I asked about the well-being of Athena, Apollo, and Arashi, I was relieved to hear that they were all safe and sound.

Still, when I hesitantly asked about Fuego, everyone turned their sad gazes away from me.

"I understand..." I muttered, feeling a mix of anger and sadness.

"I’m sorry, Ichiro... If I had arrived a bit earlier..." Jackson commented.

However, I raised my hand and stopped him from apologizing, as I believed that Jackson had done quite a lot.

"I think you should listen a bit more..." Vespera said, and I could tell that they needed to tell me something important.

The following statements from Jackson left me utterly silent, and I felt a mixture of emotions, from sadness to confusion.

It turned out that after Drakzen absorbed the corpses of the two dead dragons, he had managed to save up enough demonic energy to bring back the continent of G’Henna to the world.

Of course, I didn’t comprehend how an entire continent had appeared out of nowhere, considering that it was supposed to be located to the south of the Nothern Empire.

"G’Henna used to be underwater for thousands of years... Drakzen’s entire plan was to bring it back to the surface," Jackson explained.

At that moment, I remembered the massive obsidian island that I had found sunk under the sea while traveling to the north.

The only reason we found it was mere coincidence, as Bjorn was afraid of the sudden water eruptions that were appearing on our way to the north.

When Vespera and I investigated, we found a massive island with underwater volcanoes, which were responsible for the sudden water eruptions on the surface.

I didn’t think it would be a big deal at that time, so it was pretty shocking to hear that the underwater island was the aforementioned G’Henna.

"Why did Drakzen want to bring back the continent? Does he want to rule over it?" I pondered aloud.

However, Jackson shook his head in denial, saying that Drakzen wasn’t interested in political power like the other devils, which was the reason he was known as the "traveling devil."

"You see, G’Henna’s story goes way back..." Jackson commented.

He explained that thousands of years ago, G’Henna was a part of their world like all the other continents. However, it went by a different name—Osul Continent.

Back then, the Obsidian Kingdom ruled over all of Osul, and they were a violent and brutal country that governed with an iron fist.

The Obsidian King’s dream was to conquer the surrounding continents, and after a few failed invasions in the north and east, the other countries of the world began to avoid trading with them.

As the Obsidian Kingdom became weaker due to the lack of resources and support, the king decided to ask the devils for help and sacrificed thousands of the citizens in his nation to open a portal to hell.

However, contrary to what the king believed, the devils had no reason to serve him, as they deemed the man to be too weak. As a result, the entire continent of Osul was taken by the devils and renamed to G’Henna.

For a few years, countries around the world had to struggle to protect their cities from the devils’ invasions. Until one day, a powerful man appeared and traveled around the world to fight the forces of hell.

Jackson didn’t know the name of the man, but when he mentioned he was the "first sage," I suspected he could be talking about Alejandro, who was a reincarnator like me.

In the story, it was said that Alejandro built a colossal titan with the help of the dwarves to take down the giant wall that protected the continent of G’Henna.

After a massive war between all of the countries against the devils, Alejandro ended up vanquishing all of them and sinking the whole continent to the bottom of the sea.

’I get it now... Everything is connecting,’ I thought.

Still, there was a part of the story that never sat well with Jackson.

"This was a rumor I heard from other devils... They said that the sage didn’t actually want to sink the continent," Jackson said.

In the same way that Jackson and Nessa were devils who had morals and emotions, there were a lot more out there who shared the same sentiments.

When these devils heard that they could get out of hell and live in a "peaceful" world, they believed it was the chance of a lifetime. However, the amount of evil devils outnumbered them by the millions, so they were never able to express their beliefs in coexistence.

"This is just a theory... Maybe I want to hold on to that hope, but I think the first sage became friends with a devil, like you and I—and I think he wanted to make a place for these devils to live freely..." Jackson said.

"Hmm, that could be true... But if Alejandro vanquished the devils, then why did Phelena bring the other sages? Sage Kyoko also fought devils... Where did those come from?" I pondered aloud, letting all my questions out in the open.

When reminiscing about the journals I had read about Sage Kyoko, the woman mentioned that she had "failed" her mission, even though she got rid of the devils wandering the world during her time.

’Could it be...? Her real mission was...?’ I continued delving into my thoughts.
