My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 455: The 100th Floor
Chapter 455: The 100th Floor fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
When I used the teleporter, I appeared beside my companions on the 100th floor. However, I wasn’t sure if we could even call the place a "level" since there were no walls or ceilings.
The 100th floor was a large platform at the very tip of the tower that seemed to be around two hundred meters in diameter, surrounded by a sea of clouds below us that were slowly turning gray.
It was quite windy, and the air was thin, so it took me a few seconds to get used to breathing up there. Moreover, I was expecting to find my companions and the devils fighting, but the two groups were standing on opposite sides of the platform.
I also noticed that Louie’s crystal was hovering above the platform, which meant that there were people in the world who were spectating our match.
"I’ll take Drakzen..." I muttered to my team.
Since I had fought him a few times already, I thought it would be best if I took care of him on my own so that my team could focus on Xalathas and Agares.
Even though Xalathas was the Demon King, and Agares was one of the ancient demons who could match his strength, I strangely felt Drakzen was the most significant threat among the three.
I asked Ovi if he wanted to get off my shoulder before the battle started, but the dragon simply clenched his body as if holding me tighter, declining my offer.
As Xalathas took a few steps forward toward the center of the platform, I did the same until we were less than five meters away from each other, sharpening my gaze and staring into his demonic eyes without wavering.
"To conquer the world and bring chaos to life..." Xalathas muttered, extending his arm to the side and making a sizeable curved blade appear on his hand.
"To live peacefully with my wife..." I replied, clenching my bo tightly with both hands and getting into a combat stance.
A brief moment of silence fell down on the platform—all we could hear was the strong winds flowing against our bodies as the tension got heavier by the second.
Both teams were waiting for someone to make the first move, but since Xalathas wasn’t my target, I maintained a firm pose with my bo and waited for the demon king to act.
In the blink of an eye, right when Xalathas made a sudden move with his arm, I heard the crackling of lightning, only to see Melina appearing right beside Xalathas and landing a flying kick shrouded in electricity right on his face.
"You are my opponent..." Melina said after blasting the demon king away.
Agares instantly advanced toward the center of the platform but was promptly stopped when his attacks clashed with Nessa and Jackson.
Still, Agares was much more powerful than the two friendly devils, especially since they couldn’t use the full extent of their powers.
Fortunately for us, Frost and Vespera quickly joined them, and Agares was forced to halt his advance, as not even he could ignore two demon generals and two legendary beasts.
Arashi mentioned she would support Melina against Xalathas and rushed to her side, leaving me alone with Ovi curled on my shoulder and Yoru inside my shadow.
With my companions fighting around me on the platform, Drakzen and I fixed our gazes with each other and, in the blink of an eye, rushed forward and clashed my bo against his black blade.
The strike from our weapons released a powerful shockwave that would have sent any ordinary person flying away, but nobody on that platform was normal, so everyone just kept fighting as if nothing had happened.
"Are you gonna run away again later on?" I asked Drakzen as both of our weapons ground against each other.
"Heh, I can’t. This is my last bastion," He replied, releasing shadow spikes from the ground around him and prompting me to take a quick step back to avoid them.
Suddenly, the loud sounds of the World Titan fighting the primal demon got closer to the tower, making the platform shake momentarily.
’This is going to be a mess...’ I thought, using magic to levitate a few centimeters from the floor so I wouldn’t lose my balance with all the trembling.
It was clear that we wouldn’t be able to finish the fight standing in the arena above the clouds. Even though it was an ample space, there were too many people fighting and using powerful spells, so the area didn’t feel that large.
Moreover, if I wanted to use a spell that could truly kill Drakzen, I was definitely going to need more space around me.
When Drakzen and I clashed our weapons again and exchanged a barrage of blows, I landed a hit on his torso and slapped him to the edge of the platform. Still, it’s not like he would die if he fell since he could just fly back up.
Using wind magic to propel myself forward, holding my bo firmly in hand, I struck Drakzen’s blade as he protected himself, blasting him off the platform.
In an instant, Drakzen’s demonic wings came out of his back while he aimed his palm in my direction, releasing a pitch-black beam that I barely managed to dodge.
As the black beam hit the ground and trailed along the platform, I widened my eyes when I noticed the crack on the ground was generating a glow.
’Shit!’ I thought, quickly flying further away from the trail generated by the beam, which released an explosion that caught everyone else by surprise.
Still, I didn’t have time to think, as Drakzen had used that brief moment to advance toward me, prompting me to raise my bo to deflect his attack abruptly.
With both of us in the air, our attacks kept moving us further away from the platform, but I didn’t consider that to be a bad thing.
The clouds below us would sometimes crack open by the shockwave from our weapons clashing, and all I could hear was the strong wind blowing and the occasional spell being cast.
"Done with the warmup?" Drakzen asked, and I only nodded in response, making my mind go blank as I slowly got into ’the zone.’
