Chapter 33: A Turn for the worse.

The policeman, Jacob, shot Adonis a stare.

"Does he speak for all of you?"

His tone deepened, turning his attention to Jayhan.

It took a while, but Jayhan finally uttered,

"I have no obligation to give anyone anything I have earned. Just like everyone here, I faced the quests the taskmaster gave us."

"I see..."

"But I will help out some other way..."

Hearing this, everyone immediately perked up their ears, waiting to hear what Jayhan would say next.

Slow and steady, Jayhan stood to his feet and pulled out a hand-drawn map.

Jacob was the only one close enough to see the drawing.

"A map?"

"Yes, this map has details of where the green zones are and paths to take to avoid monsters beyond your strength."

The policeman stretched his hand forward.

"May I?"

"I’m not stupid. The moment I hand it to you, you’ll cram everything by heart."

"Oh, come on, that’s not possible."

"Not for a cop..."

Jacob sighed, realizing Jayhan wasn’t going to hand it to him, no matter what he said.

"You say it’s a map for all the green zones in Seoul city; how am I supposed to know you’re not just bluffing?"

"I have no reason to. Whether you believe me or not, it doesn’t affect me in the least."

There were a couple of concerned murmurs in the crowd, silently urging Jacob to go along with whatever Jayhan said.

Their choices were limited; losing their single chance was not something they wanted to risk.

Jacob could tell, so he did as they asked.

"Okay, fine, I just have one question..."

’Detectives sure are annoying.’

Jacob glared. "How are you able to know where the green zones are? And how do you know where the monsters will show up?"

The crowd now focused their attention on Jayhan, waiting for him to give his answer.

Telling them he had a mini-map like he said to Kara would definitely work. No matter what type of reply he gave, they would have no choice but to accept it.

That said, making himself look more powerful was needed for his next plan.

That person was watching.

Jayhan gave his reply...

"My Divine Protector knows everything about this new world and feeds me information."

Not only did his reply cement why he was strong in their perception of him, but it also explained to the group why he knew so much about the world.

[A lot of people are shocked at your revelation.]

’I expected this reaction. No one here even thought it was possible to communicate with a Divine Protector. And now they are thinking if they could, they would also get information. Can’t be any sadder.’

"Prove it."

Jacob uttered, eyes focused. "If what you say is true, then prove it."

Jayhan was visibly disgusted, though he tried his best to hide it.

"How do you suggest I do that?"

"We already have a case on hand. Missing food and water. Ask your Divine Protector to help with finding who did this."

’Is this dude serious? He probably thinks I’m lying. That or he really wants to die.’

"What do you plan to do once I bring out the thief?" Jayhan asked.

"They will be punished accordingly."

’Yeah, okay.’

Jayhan suddenly raised his finger, pointing at Jacob.

"Good, so how do you intend to punish yourself since you were the one who did it?"

No one reacted, but instead, they remained frozen. Surely the policeman would defend himself.

"Are you joking? I am a policeman; why would I—"

"The law no longer exists in this world. You know that more than anyone here. That is why you did what you did...you robbed them because you knew the law no longer existed."

All eyes were now fixed on Jacob.

Jayhan’s game log skill played no role in how he knew Jacob was the culprit, but rather, in the game, Jacob did the same thing.

A thief in both worlds.

"Bullshit! Don’t listen to him! Why would I steal from you? Have you forgotten I was the first to act when I found out?!"

Jacob yelled at them, his hand on his chest.

At this point, it was obvious he was panicking. He had indeed stolen the supplies, but how did Jayhan know about this? Jacob was confused beyond measure.

"If I am truly the one who did it, then where could I have kept the supplies, huh?"

Jayhan spoke back,

"Open your inventory and drop everything in it."

Jacob nearly cursed; Jayhan was backing him into a corner.

And from the looks of things, it seemed like people were starting to suspect him.

"Okay, fine, I’ll prove this guy is a fraud."

Jacob swiped his finger in the air before him, and a small circle appeared.

From this circle, a book, one bottle of water, and a grenade dropped out of it.

"See? What in the hell are you trying to prove—"

Before he could complete his words, Jayhan stormed closer, grabbed his finger, and pressed it hard against the circle.

Just like that, the supplies he had stolen dropped from the circle like rain.

In less than a few seconds, the ground was scattered with different groceries, phones, and other items.

While all networks were disabled on phones, they were still useful for other things.

"That’s my torchlight!"

A girl yelled from within the crowd.

And then came the others...

"Hold on, isn’t that my takeaway?"

"Dude, look! The beer!"

People began murmuring in unison; it wasn’t long before their surprise turned into directed anger at Jacob.

"So you were the thief all along!"

"We trusted you!"

"How dare you steal from me in my sleep!"

Soon, Jacob was being surrounded by the angry mob.

He began sweating; there was no way around it, he had been busted.

Jacobs’s hand twitched towards his waist.

[The character Jacob holds a deep resentment towards you.]

’Yeah, you brought this on yourself; you should have just kept quiet.’

[Game log: Jacob pulls out his gun and shoots Jayhan in the head. The crowd is in shock.]

’Dammit.’

Jacob pointed the gun at Jayhan.
