THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS-Chapter 29: VISIT FROM GRANDMA 2
Chapter 29: VISIT FROM GRANDMA 2
When Harlow stepped out of her room, she was in a beautiful mild pink dress, her red hair cascading down her back like she’d always wanted. She had won her red hair with pride tonight after hours of brushing for hours.
As she walked, she heard a few noises coming from the lounge, the maids moving in and out of the lounge, whispered things to themselves. Then she heard Claudia’s voice, "But Grandma, I’m your new daughter-in-law."
"No you’re not, even if I have dementia, I still know who that rascal had married yesterday. I was the one that personally came to carry her home according to our traditions." Harlow smiled at her sister’s desperation.
"Grandma, I’m the one you carried, don’t you recognize me."
"My daughter-in-law is very beautiful. You’re nothing compared to her beauty." Her words angered Elisa and she clenched her hands into a fist. She didn’t like it when people compared Claudia’s beauty to that of Harlow. That is why she had done everything to make sure her daughter over shadows Harlow.
"How can you be so mean, Grandma?" She had no idea why this old woman hated her so much. She has always been against her and Alanis’s relationship from the start.
"Daddy." Claudia turned to her father, "I want her thrown out of the mansion immediately."
"Grandma," Harlow called immediately as she rushed to hug the woman. Charlotte Hamilton stared at the girl before her, she raised her hands to touch Harlow’s face and recognized her immediately.
"Oh, beautiful daughter-in-law. I was on my way to your villa when you left. Why did you run away from your home?" Charlotte asked.
"Haven’t you heard Grandma, I and Alanis are divorced? Claudia here is your new daughter-in-law..."
"Never!" Charlotte said immediately.
"That rascal..." She paused and stared at Harlow blankly.
"Are you okay Grandma, does Alanis know you’re here?" Harlow have been the one to take care of the old woman for five years. She had gone close to her because she was the one Alanis loved the most. The one he never joked with. She thought if she took care of her, he would notice her, but he never did.
Later on, she loved the old woman dearly, and just couldn’t stop taking care of her, till the day Alex died.
"Grandma." Harlow shook her a little bit.
"Huh, I’m here to see my granddaughter, find me my granddaughter." She paused and stared at Harlow.
"H... Harlow is that you?"
"Yes, Grandma." The old woman smiled.
"Come back home Harlow, please."
"I’m afraid I can’t grandma, but I’ll visit you often." She stared at her granddaughter and smiled. "You promise?" The old woman asked and Harlow nodded. She never thought persuading the old woman would be this easy.
"What useless trick is this?" Elisa asked. "Is she mad or mentally unstable?" She completed.
"It seems so," Claudia responded with a giggle. She hated Charlotte as much as the old fool hated her, if she wasn’t Alanis’s Grandma, she would have definitely shown the woman a lesson.
She would find her way into the family one way or another. She had no issue as long as Garth loved her, plus Alanis loved her. Even if she had dumped him before, she had an excuse that would make him fall in love with her again. Claudia had everything planned.
"Since we’re not going back home tonight, can I stay here with you?" Charlotte Hamilton asked. Harlow did miss the old woman, but she was no longer a part of their family, she shouldn’t take care of her.
"Nonsense, you better take her back to where she came from Harlow. That old fool is not sleeping here tonight." Garth already hated the old woman for hating her daughter. Who does she think she is?
The Hamiltons aren’t as rich as the Blackwood’s, anyone would beg to be married to Claudia, but they decided to help elevate the family from their
Claudia eyed Harlow as she held the old woman and led her to sit on a couch. This old fool had been the only reason Alanis married Harlow. He agreed to the whole agreement because his grandma pleaded for him too, not because of Garth’s persuasion. But only she knew about that.
"I’ll call Alanis to come get you home grandma, you don’t have to worry," Harlow said calmly. She couldn’t believe she was speaking to this man again after everything that happened between them. She brought out her cell phone and dialed Alanis’s number.
The first ring and he didn’t pick up. Harlow wondered why and then it dawned on her. He had said she would come crawling, did he really think she was calling him to go back to him? She almost laughed at her thought.
This man was overly confident for nothing. She would rather eat dog poop than go back to him. She isn’t as desperate as she used to be in the past, she might look so young, but she has the brain of a grown-ass woman.
She called again and this time, he picked up. "Couldn’t even stay a day without me I see." His deep amusing voice was heard.
"Don’t flatter yourself, Mr Hamilton, I called because grandma is here in my mansion. Come pick her up." Harlow didn’t wait for his response and hung up.
"Grandma, don’t worry, Alanis will be here any moment," Harlow said to the elderly woman, but Grandma Hamilton held onto her granddaughter’s hands tightly, refusing to let go.
"Don’t you dare call that rascal, I’m not going back with him until he decides to do the right thing." The elderly woman said her voice tiny yet so firm.
Frank Blackwood who walked into the scene before him, "Since she wouldn’t leave, we might as well have dinner together." Harlow froze at his words. She had no idea Grandma Hamilton would be joining them for dinner tonight, she would have never instructed the head chef to do her any favors.
Favors?
What does Harlow have planned?
