The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 412: Set His Eyes
Chapter 412: Set His Eyes
Abel massaged the back of his neck as he made his way towards the Queen Mother’s office. "I guess this is better than the Queen Mother asking me to have Ezme as a wife instead," he murmured to himself. He already knew why the Queen Mother was asking for his presence. Obviously, it was about Lady Dani and the incident between them.
Aside from Dani and Mason whom he already killed, no one knew about his relationship with Rosela. Still, despite the man being dead, his face darkened as he recalled the memories Mason had when he drank his blood. He had tasked him to look after Rosela and report everything to him, but she ended up manipulating Mason using her body instead. It was upsetting enough that he quickly had to compose himself before opening the door and entering the Queen Mother’s office.
"Your Highness," he politely greeted with a curt bow.
"Come," she said as she gestured towards the nearest chair. "Sit. We have much to talk about."
Wordlessly, Abel sat in front of her, accepting the wine she then offered him.
"So, a day has already passed since that incident, Abel," Rania began. "What is your plan?"
"As I said before, I will take responsibility and court Lady Dani to accept me as his husband," Abel firmly answered. He genuinely meant it too. After all, he found Lady Dani attractive. In fact, no other woman had made him feel such a variety of emotions. He never even thought it would be possible aside from his former wife.
"That’s good then. I expect you to take quick action on this since Lady Dani also comes from a noble family," she reiterated. "I shouldn’t need to remind you that her father is one of the dukes in Ebodia, not to mention that her brother is also the Great Constable of Ebodia."
"I’m well aware of it," Abel remarked. "I’ll take the necessary procedures as required, Queen Mother."
It was an obvious thing he had to do. He was well aware of it all since he knew every detail about the Queen’s ladies-in-waiting before they even arrived at Valcrez.
"You and Fritz are like sons to me, Abel," Rania told him. "Nikolai and I will have to meet with Dani’s parents once you two decide on the date."
"Thank you, Queen Mother," Abel nodded. "I will inform you as soon as everything is settled."
From there, he and the Queen Mother talked some more on a few serious topics involving the kingdom before he then bid her farewell, intending to meet Lady Dani afterward.
With his thoughts running, Abel was still making his way to the Queen’s residence when he received a telepathic report from his curb that Dani had just arrived at his residence. Immediately, he shifted into his mist form and made his way back home.
Once he arrived, he didn’t immediately transform back into his human form. Instead, he lingered not far from Dani who was casually eating some grapes on the table. A smile formed on his lips just watching her. After all, she looked adorable with how much she frowned while talking badly to him behind his back.
"Hah, considerate? I doubt that!" Dani scoffed. "As if that man can even think of such a concept."
Smirking, Abel was itching to retort as he materialized back to his human form. "I am indeed considerate, don’t you think?"
Dani coughed as she inadvertently swallowed the whole grape she was eating. Moving quickly, Abel offered her a glass of water. "Here," he chuckled. "Feeling better?"
He watched as Dani blinked while he sat in front of her, casually crossing his arms and legs as he waited for her to speak. Still blinking, she took another sip of her drink before she then cleared her throat and spoke. "Nothing happened between us, so there’s no need for us to proceed with the marriage," she insisted. "Gossip will die down in time. We simply have to weather the storm and we’ll be fine."
Abel smirked at her words. He could feel how Dani was so against marrying him with every word she spoke. Still, it was too bad for her since he already decided that he would take responsibility. After all, he kissed and slept with her, even though it was just in the literal sense of sleeping beside each other.
"No. We’ll proceed as I said, Dani. You don’t have a say in this. You don’t even have any recollection of what happened last night," Abel directly stated with a raised brow. "Tell me, why are you even against it? Do you have someone special in your life right now?" frёewebηovel.cѳm
For some reason, he became curious if Dani had someone special in her heart. But the last time he checked, she didn’t have one.
"No, but that doesn’t mean I’d agree to this ridiculous thing of marrying you!" Dani exclaimed. "I’m a mage, and I have a basic knowledge of human anatomy, so I know perfectly well that nothing happened between us last night!"
Abel smiled as he stared at her intently. ’Looks like she doesn’t remember anything. I wonder if I should make her remember or not?’ he amusingly thought as his eyes went down to Dani’s lips. Still, in the short time of knowing Dani, he knew it wouldn’t be wise to kiss her right now. He was only fortunate enough that she was drunk that night so he was able to kiss her without a problem.
"Hmm... How about a proposition?"
"Huh?"
Ignoring Dani’s frowning, Abel continued, "You see, the Queen Mother wouldn’t just let things slide by so easily," he smugly hummed. "I know her enough to know this, Dani. How about we just let things happen and do what she wants? I mean, I’m sure you don’t have any plans to leave the Queen, right? You want to stay with her for the rest of your life. Am I correct?"
"Just get straight to the point, will you?" Dani hissed
"I’ll provide you with everything you might need. I’ll give you a name and a good title while also being the Chancellor’s wife," he nonchalantly offered with a shrug. "You’ll have access to practically anything you might want here in Valcrez too. Also, if you’re that uncomfortable with being my wife, then we can just simply be a couple in the name. I won’t force you into anything. I’d even set you free the moment you find someone you like..."
’But I don’t intend on setting you free once you agree with me,’ Abel thought. After all, he was someone who had a habit of sticking to his woman no matter what. And right now, he has already set his eyes on Dani...
