Chapter 423: Ready to Kill Him

The next day, Dani and Abel left to travel directly to Ebodian Camp which was located just outside Ebodia’s borders. As usual, Abel insisted that they travel in his mist form, so Dani didn’t bother arguing anymore in consideration of how well he did in handling her parents.

As Abel said earlier, they had a few stopovers for him to buy a few things for the Queen Mother and the others for when they returned to Valcrez. And in turn, some of his scions magically appeared to carry the things Abel bought.

"Get anything you want, Dani," Abel whispered to her as they continued roaming around the market in the capital city of Ebodia. "I know you’re capable of buying anything you want, but let me buy some things that might fancy your eyes just for today."

She wrinkled her brows at him as she pointed out, "We’re no longer in front of my parents, you know."

"And yet we’re still a couple, Dani. Who knows? Maybe someone who knows you and your parents might accidentally see us out here," he pointed out with a knowing smirk. "It would be nice for them to tell them how adorable and into each other we look right now, don’t you agree?"

Dani simply sighed, again, not bothering to argue with him anymore. She liked having someone hold her like this anyway. She felt secure for some reason, and once again, she bit her inner lip as she tried not to focus too much on the different sensations she was feeling whenever Abel was close to her like this. In addition, there were a lot of people already roaming the streets at this hour, and Dani felt Abel pull her close to him in response.

"Stay close to me," he whispered to her as he kept his arm around her shoulders.

She wasn’t tall, so she had to raise her head to look Abel in the face whenever they were this close. As usual, the moment he leaned his head down to look at her, Dani quickly moved her head in a different direction to avoid him.

"I want that!" she burst out, pointing to the stall selling some beauty products.

It was... weird wanting such things. Damn... Since when did she even bother putting something on her face? No, she was simply embarrassed at being caught staring at him so she randomly pointed at the nearest store she could find.

"Alright, let’s buy everything you want, Dani," Abel enthusiastically stated, leading her to the stall with a wide smile on his face.

And buy stuff, they did. Eventually, after some time, Abel went ahead and dispatched the scions tailing them and letting them leave with all of the goods they bought. They then went to a tavern for her to have lunch, and after that, they traveled directly to the camp.

It was already dark by the time they arrived at their destination.

"Are you alright?" Abel asked her as he held onto Dani’s arm to give her support. It looked like she still wasn’t used to the feeling of traveling with him in his mist form.

"I’m not. Goodness, I feel so dizzy right now," she groaned as she massaged her temples. "I’ll definitely not travel back with you to Valcrez like this. I’d rather board Admiral Sixto’s ship than go through this again!"

"You’ll get used to it soon, Dani," Abel chuckled. "We just need to travel like this more often."

And he meant every word of it. In fact, he intended to bring Dani out with him some more for a stroll. He truly enjoyed her company, and he found himself being more at ease whenever he was around her presence. It was still hard to explain, but he enjoyed every expression Dani would make around him.

He smiled seeing how deep her frown was right now. In response, he placed his index finger in the center of her forehead and asked, "What’s with that frown again, Dani?"

Her eyes narrowed, and he couldn’t help but find them amusing.

’How come she looks so adorable with narrowed eyes?’ he thought.

"Well, we’re no longer in front of my parents, so there’s no need for the formalities now," she pointed out with lifted brows as she deliberately stared at the hand that was holding her arm. "Also, you’re becoming extra touchy right now."

Abel ignored her stern countenance. Instead, he leaned closer to her and whispered into her ear. "But we need to work hard on our chemistry right now. Unless you don’t want to convince your big brother, that is," he casually stated. "How about you try and hug my arms? I do believe the man approaching us right now is your beloved brother."

Touchy... ’Was she this dense?’ Abel thought.

He couldn’t help but wonder how Dani was unable to comprehend that he wasn’t just acting. He was touching her on purpose because he loved doing it. Maybe it was also his fault for not being straightforward with her. But then, he felt that Dani might run away from him if he ever gave it to her straight up. She believed he was still into Rosela. It had already been a month since she died, and here he was... being clingy around a different woman.

By the sidelines, Abel watched as Dani slowly turned around to face her brother’s gloomy face. He wasn’t mistaken that he was her brother, especially since he saw quite a few similarities between Dani and the man approaching. He looked like he was ready to kill him, however.

"I heard you finally arrived," the man said with a questioning tone. "How come you’re dilly-dallying instead of looking for me as soon as you arrived?"

Dani held an awkward smile as she introduced Abel to the man. "Brother, this is Chancellor Abel Ivanov, my betrothed." She then looked at him and proudly stated, "Abel, please greet my big brother, Atlas Wright, the Great Constable of Ebodia."

"It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lord Atlas," Abel politely greeted as he extended his hand out to the man for a handshake.

Dani’s brother moved to accept the gesture, but a few seconds had already passed with the brother refusing to let his hand go. He was holding onto his hand rather tightly. Thankfully, Abel was a vampire, so this bit of pain was nothing to him. Instead, he simply let Dani’s brother do his intimidation act.

"Brother, that’s enough for introductions," Dani scolded. "How about you let Abel greet His Majesty, King Nikolai, first?"

"It’s already too late for that. His Majesty is already resting with Her Majesty, Queen Mineah," Atlas sternly mentioned. "Besides, I’m sure you’re tired, Dani. I shall have someone escort you to your tent. You can go on ahead. Chancellor Abel here and I still have a lot to discuss..."
