The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 440: Lost Her Appetite
Chapter 440: Lost Her Appetite
"I can’t believe I’m marrying an antique," Dani jokingly stated. "No wonder my brother can’t get over it."
"I hope this antique is something that can be noteworthy to you then," Abel chuckled as he boasted. "Tell me, Dani, how young are you?"
"Guess," Dani snorted.
Abel’s smile widened. He already knew all about her to answer. "Her Majesty is turning twenty-one before winter’s end," he pointed out. "I heard she’s excellent in that she jumped two years in her lessons, so you’re probably twenty-three..."
Dami pouted, "Seems like you did enough studying about our Queen."
"That couldn’t be helped. The Queen Mother quickly asked for every single detail about our new Queen the moment the news of King NIkolai’s unexpected marriage to her reached us," Abel shrugged with a smile. "The opposition will try and be negative with things, so we had to be prepared so that the Queen Mother can throw all the good traits our Queen had at them in response."
Dani simply nodded. She understood exactly what he meant by those words.
"This feels good, you know... Just sitting around and talking about things with you." he hummed with a sigh of relief.
"How about we go on a picnic during our honeymoon?" Dani suddenly asked.
Abel raised a brow. He didn’t see her words coming, but he quickly fixated on her cheerful face. She looked very excited about that supposed picnic they were going to have on their honeymoon.
’Ah, so naive and innocent...’
That was what came to Abel’s mind while staring at Dani’s glowing face. She just blurted out the word honeymoon like it wasn’t anything serious; as if the two of them were simply kids that were about to play house and all. Was she not aware of how much of a beast he was once he saw an opportunity? The moment he got the chance, he wouldn’t hesitate to devour her alive...
He had no time to play around at all, especially when he was this physically attracted to Dani. He also knew deep inside his heart that she was starting to grow on him too. A picnic on their honeymoon? He would turn it into a different kind of picnic if he had his way.
From those thoughts alone, Abel’s mind started going wild as he looked into Dani’s sweet smile.
"What do you think? You can laze around during our honeymoon period and have fun going to places you’ve never been before," Dani beamed. "I’ll be with you throughout, and we can enjoy and have fun together."
Abel mischievously smiled. "Yes, Dani. Let’s do that."
Oh, how he wanted to tell her everything he had in mind, but he knew his depraved wants might scare her away, so he did his best to control himself.
A few moments passed, and they eventually found out that the Seer had already left in a hurry and that Prince Ezekiel had even picked her up personally. Knowing that they had no choice but to go back empty handed.
"I’m sorry," Dani apologized to him as they made their way back to the Corvus Palace.
"It’s fine. You don’t need to apologize. We can go some other time. Like I said, it’s no big deal for me, and it doesn’t matter anymore if I don’t find out about my origins," he consoled her. "The present and the future are the only things that matter now."
Dani didn’t respond, her shoulders sagging as silence reigned between them.
"It’s almost dark out," Abel absently remarked. "How about we have dinner in my residence instead?"
"Alright, let’s do that," she sighed. "I won’t turn down that offer."
"Hmm... Good then," he chuckled. "You must be feeling guilty so you shouldn’t turn down every offer I make."
With that, Abel immediately telepathically tasked his servants to prepare for everything so that once they arrived, things would already be arranged. Meanwhile, Dani blinked as he led her to an open pavilion in his residence, one that also had a view of a smaller pond compared to the one inside the king’s palace.
Already, servants were preparing their food on the table, and Abel pulled out a chair for her to sit the moment they arrived. Quietly, Dani sat and watched as Abel dismissed the servants as soon as they were done.
"Go on and eat," Abel told her with a smile.
Since she was starving, Dani began to eat. Before, she used to get very conscious because Abel had a habit of watching her eat. But after a few nights of him doing the same thing, she no longer felt shy around him. However, her heart remained erratic, especially whenever she felt Abel’s intense gaze on her. In addition, she used to eat in a hurry without care of proper etiquette whenever she ate alone or with her friends, but she eventually became mindful of eating with grace in front of him.
"I plan to see Dahlia and talk to her tomorrow. To be honest, I feel like I have no right to show myself to her because of Rosela," he admitted. "I know it’s entirely not my fault that Rosela turned out like that and ended her life, but for some reason... I can’t help but blame myself for not looking after her properly and making sure that she didn’t do the evil things she did."
"Why are you blaming yourself? Are you Rosela’s husband?" she quickly asked. "You’ve done enough in helping and supporting the Benett Family for many generations, Abel. What happened to Rosela was entirely her fault. It’s her life. No one told her what to do with her life except for her. She made her own choices!" She then hissed after a sip of her water, "You’re feeling like that because of your unrequited love for her."
Shaking her head, she put down her meal. The food was good, but she already lost her appetite because of Abel talking about Rosela.
"I’ll be going now," she told him with a blank expression. "Thank you for the meal."
"But you’ve barely eaten, Dani," Abel pointed out.
"I’m tired and I want to sleep early," Dani answered as she got up to leave. However, Abel held her by the wrist once again. novelbuddy.cσ๓
