The Crown's Seduction-Chapter 442: To Protect All Her Might

It had been a while since Abel had seen Dani. Many things happened since then, and just when he thought he would have enough time to see his future wife, something unexpected arrived. Somehow, Zoran had brought the wanted warlock with him. And since the position of the Minister of Justice was still vacant, Abel was the one taking charge of it while a replacement was being sought out.

"My marriage is in three days, My King, " he reminded the King as soon as he met him in his office.

"Don’t worry, we won’t take long," Nikolai chuckled. "Lady Dani and Lady Zaila will be leaving on one of our fastest fleets before sunset. I’m sure you’ll get to her tomorrow morning in your mist form before she even wakes up."

Abel could only shrug as he looked at Fritz who was casually fanning himself as usual. "Tsk, what a bystander. Can you make yourself more useful and get a high-ranking position to help and be more productive?" he clicked his tongue at him. "You already lost your luck in solving puzzles and tracking people down that Zoran got Nimue first."

"Hah! He just got ahead of me for a few seconds!" Fritz scoffed. "We were almost there to catch Nimue!"

"And yet you still didn’t," Abel pointed out.

"Why do I have a feeling that you’re sticking your nose at me more often these days?" Fritz remarked with a scoff. "You’ve been nagging me a lot lately, Abel. Do I need to remind you that I’m still your progenitor and that I can exactly do what I want with you? Just because I’m being generous with you doesn’t give you the right to scold me!"

Abel rolled his eyes at Fritz. He had been with him for three centuries now. He knew his threats against him were all but empty words.

"What did I even say wrong? You’re a talented man, and you can be more productive here inside the palace than going out and roaming around," Abel reasoned. "We have more than enough scions for such simple tasks."

Fritz was the only person who had the wisdom and intellect to assist the king with his work. If Fritz stayed in the palace, Abel would find his judicial work being offloaded from him. In fact, Fritz should be the one taking over the Ministry of Justice, but this man simply didn’t want to take on a responsibility as big as that.

"Ah, I see it now. For the first time, Abel reached his breaking point at his work! Is this because you’re going to be a family man now?" Fritz fired back. "Goodness, why are you taking it out on me? Just ask the King to delegate some of the workload to other officials."

"Ugh, you two... Aren’t you ashamed of discussing things like that in front of me? Enough of this and let’s get this thing done," Nikolai interrupted. He then looked at Abel and instructed, "Proceed to the open courtroom hall."

"I’ll go ahead then, Your Majesty," Abel curtly bowed. He just hoped that the trial wouldn’t take long for him to wrap up so that he could quickly travel to the Miran Ocean to follow Dani.

Meanwhile, Dani and Zaila boarded Admiral Sixto’s ship before sunset and settled in to relax during their journey. She and Zaila were on the upper deck enjoying the view of the sun as it began its descent towards the horizon, casting a warm and golden glow across the vast expanse of the ocean. They were currently resting on comfortable inclined chairs more suited for a better relaxing position. The fleet they were with was mostly for recreational purposes, and Dani heard that these kinds of fleets were newly launched and purchased from Cordon.

"Ah, this feels good!" Zaila exclaimed before taking a sip of her fruit juice.

"When will the Chancellor arrive?" Zaila quickly asked her. "Will he see you here out in the ocean or will he just go directly to Ebodia?"

"I don’t know," Dani answered.

She was currently thinking about Abel too much. Her mind had been very busy thinking about how to make him love her. She then turned to Zaila and thought, ’Maybe, I’ll play hard to get like her.’

Zaila turned back to her with a frown and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Hmmm... Lord Gregory asked me to talk to you," she quickly deflected. "He wants to give you something, but I turned him down and told him to do it himself."

"Good call," Zaila remarked with a mischievous grin.

From that reaction alone, Dani could already tell that Zaila was ignoring Lord Gregory and the others intentionally. "So what are you doing to those men?" she directly inquired. There was no need for her to elaborate since Zaila already knew what she was referring to.

"Let them all look for me. You see, these men have this habit of following you, and they’ll get more into you the more you let them see that you’re someone they couldn’t have so easily," she explained. "They love challenges, but of course, not all men are like that, and you should know when to stop. Ah... Those men are all vying for my attention, but I want to see who has deep feelings for me and who will last despite my mood swings and shortcomings. I want to know who is patient among them when it comes to wooing me."

Dani gulped, and she couldn’t help but scoff at her friend. "Ah, I really thought that you’d be the first one to get a man among us seeing how often you flirt with them. Who would’ve thought that you’ll be the hardest to please among us?" she teased. "You make me feel like an easy woman to get now. I wonder if Krisha will feel the same way too. Niran is an exemption though since she mixed her work with her love life."

"You’re not an easy woman to get, Dani. It just so happened that you already set your eyes on one man and saw yourself as a wife for him," Zaila chuckled. "In my case, I’m still confused about what I want."

Dani rolled her eyes and scoffed, "You’re not confused, Zaila... Tell me the truth, you just want to see if you’ll get a chance with Prince Ezekiel right?"

Zaila’s smile widened as she said, "Why not? Who knows? A miracle can happen and he might choose me in the selection. But kidding aside, I haven’t met that someone who’ll have a great impact and make me feel various emotions. A man that will make me want to protect with all my might. That’s also why I’m distancing myself away from my suitors, for now, to see if their absence will truly make my heart grow fonder to any of them."

Dani didn’t remark on Zaila’s words. After all, she had already found the man who had made a great impact on her and who could also make her feel various emotions inside. A man that she wanted to protect with all her might...
