The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 391- Slightly More Dangerous
Chapter 391: Chapter 391- Slightly More Dangerous
Cian sighed once again, but this time in dejection. He nodded in understanding but then paused in thought before saying.
"Brother Sol, if you have any more questions then feel free to ask and I’ll answer to the best of my ability."
Sol nodded.
"Then I won’t hold back. How much do you know about the Divine Races, and what is the Archaic Era?"
Cian suddenly forced a smile.
"Brother Sol, to tell you the truth I don’t know much about this topic, most of my knowledge comes from my sister. I only know that the Gods are one of the strongest Divine Races and have dominion over the Mortal Realm. As for the rest, they aren’t that known by us Mortals. From what my sister told me, the Archaic Era was when the Gods created Mortals and were worshipped by them. Before that was the Primordial Era where the Divine Races solely existed. In this current Era, Gods and Mortals no longer live as one but rather in separate Realms. Well, at least this is what my sister told me."
Sol looked at Cian and said.
"You sound skeptical."
Cian suddenly scratched his head and said.
"I am, because what are we in the grand scheme of everything? How can we even fathom beings like that? I just think such things are beyond our understanding and that it’s difficult for us to truly know for sure what that place is like."
Sol stayed silent for a moment, his thoughts drifting off to a certain place. After a moment he softly muttered.
"You’re right to be skeptical, that place might not be as holy and virtuous as people are led to believe."
Cian was able to hear Sol, and his heart couldn’t help but tremble. He remembered that Sol might have come from that place. He obviously wanted to ask Sol about his origins and why he was here, but he stopped himself.
Rather, Cian furrowed his brows and said slowly.
"Brother Sol, I think I should tell you something."
Sol came out of his fuzzy thoughts and looked at Cian.
"Go on."
Cian’s brows were still furrowed as he said.
"That bastard and I had a deal that he would not appear as each time he does it takes a severe toll on my soul. However, I can only seethe in anger every time he breaks this promise since I have no way to prevent him from taking control. But this time, his appearance is rather strange. It seems he sensed a strange aura around you and acted."
Sol was about to take a sip of his tea, but his hand suddenly paused. This wasn’t the first time someone had told him that, Yoon-Jae did as well at the public baths.
Cian further elaborated.
"Brother Sol, as for what that strange aura was, if my senses aren’t wrong, I think it’s because your fate is already severed."
Sol’s expression was serious as he placed down his cup.
"What does that mean?"
"Brother Sol, let me explain this first. Among the Three Fates there is the Weaver, the Stringer, and the Cutter. The Weaver is responsible for creating one’s destiny, the Stringer is responsible for determining the length of one’s destiny, and the Cutter is responsible for severing one’s destiny. When one’s destiny and life are severed, the existences responsible for guiding that severed soul are Thanatos and Keres. Because I’m a God’s Chosen of Thanatos, I have the ability to somewhat sense someone’s fate. That aura I sensed around you Brother Sol, it meant that your soul was severed, and you should have passed on."
Cian stopped here and looked at Sol in both curiosity and puzzlement.
Sol remained silent for a moment before asking.
"Aside from triggering that existence within you, would there be any problems in having this aura?"
Cian paused upon hearing that, but then scratched his head and said.
"I’m not sure, you would need to ask my sister, she’s a God’s Chosen of the Stringer of Fate. However, if I had to guess, then since your Fate is severed, coming into contact with others might disrupt their own... whether it’s in a bad or good way, that I don’t know."
After ending his explanation, Cian looked at Sol to see his reaction, but he couldn’t get a grasp of what he was feeling. Cian himself couldn’t imagine what he was feeling, but he did get a sense Sol knew about his peculiar case.
’I wonder what kind of existence could upturn the laws of Heaven and Earth and allow a soul to continue living despite having their Fate severed. How Heaven-defying would such a figure be?’
Cian’s heart shook and he chose not to think about this any further. Looking at Sol, he hesitated before saying.
"I think I know why my sister sent me to the Eastern Continent in place of her, it was likely to meet you, Brother Sol."
Sol looked at Cian and was rather intrigued by this person.
Seeing Sol’s expression, Cian puffed out his chest before saying.
"My Little Sister is really amazing. She’s known as the Holy Saintess of the Seven Great Churches, and everyone is fond of her. Between her and Princess Rina of the Beorhtric Family, they’re both called the two Heavenly Maidens of the Western Wastelands."
"Western Wastelands?"
Sol was confused by that name.
"Oh, it’s what the natives call our Continent. The Church calls it the Holy Continent, while the Royals call it the Celestial Continent, but in reality, it’s practically a wasteland apart from a few places."
Hearing this, Sol thought back to Altair’s story of the Great Calamity. It had corrupted the energy of the Western Continent, and it remained that way to this day.
"What kind of existence is that thing inside of you?"
Sol suddenly asked.
"Ah, it’s just a manifestation of the powers I inherited from my Holy Crest."
Cain said touching his forehead.
Sol’s eyes flickered before he calmly asked again.
"How strong are you if he doesn’t appear?"
Cian paused and then looked up at Sol. Suddenly, he released a smile and asked.
"Is Brother Sol asking how strong I am?"
Sol sipped his tea and didn’t answer, but Cian’s smile grew a bit wider as he said with confidence.
"I might not be able to wield the powers I displayed in my Necropolis Domain without that bastard’s help, but outside I still have some methods that might make me slightly more dangerous than I was inside my Domain."
