The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride-Chapter 658: After one year
Chapter 658: After one year
After a year ~~~~
"Sir, the deal with Alpha Zeus has been finalized and the meeting with the Dukes of the South is scheduled at 3 pm. We have one free hour. Would you like me to schedule anything else in the meantime? You can check the reports of the recent expansion in the human lands," Lucas walked inside the cabin.
"You really expect me to work nonstop, don’t you? No wonder the king is always so grumpy. It’s all because you guys made him work like this," Prince Stephano said.
Lucas didn’t answer. He just looked at the elder prince blankly.
"Is there anything else?" He asked in the same robotic expressionless voice, and Prince Stephano sighed.
He stood from his seat that was adjacent to the King’s seat.
There were five throne seats to be precise in the actual throne room. The middle and the one with the highest order belonged to Sebastian, their main king, while the other seats were occupied by the other brothers.
It was like this in this room, but in the main throne room, after those seats, there were two adjacent seats on both sides for their sisters which were followed by the seats of their parents and elders.
The entire seating arrangement of the throne room was changed and now most decisions were taken by the voting system so that no one feels left out.
Many things changed in the royal Kingdom after that war, and the most changed person was their King himself.
Prince Stephano watched his youngest brother, walking in the garden after his three-hour-long meeting with the council members, and didn’t know what it was, but it always made him feel like something was missing from their life.
Their lives were so monotonous that it almost felt like they were only surviving, like puppets fulfilling their duties. There was no life in their daily activities.
They had moments of happiness and sadness, but it was the hollow feeling in their hearts that was strangely unbearable.
He has seen his brother smile. Prince Stephano clearly remembered that he had seen how freely and lively his brother’s smile was, but it was strange how he didn’t remember what made his brother smile that time.
Everything was hazy.
There were so many times when he tried to ask other family members if they experienced the same thing, but who should he ask? Everyone was living the same way as they had lived for so many years.
It was true that his brother Prince Vincenzo had gotten even more quieter, then again he has always been the quiet type. So what was weird about that?
It all happened and changed after that war, that war against those humans and witches.
The hunter bloodline was completely wiped out in that war, and the emperor was given an ultimatum.
If this time the vampires found anything about the collaboration planning of any kind of attack, the vampire kingdom would only stop after making them their slaves.
Things have been quite quiet between the two kingdoms ever since. The witches never made any contact with them after that, and the reason why they helped them was still unclear. The decades-long animosity between them was gone.
Their relationships with the werewolves were also improving slowly. It all felt like a miracle to him because he didn’t remember anyone from the vampire kingdom taking any action or step forward towards any other species. They have always been the egotistic kind.
"Sir, Madam Freya wants to know if you would accompany her to meet your sister and Duke Marcello. She wants to see the baby," Desmond, Prince Stephano’s secretary, walked inside the cabin and Stephano sighed.
Their family was surely going haywire ever since their sister Ella gave birth to a cute little girl. They have been urging him to go there frequently.
The craziest one was their mother Freya, who just found any motivation to go there and meet the baby. She was truly happy, and why wouldn’t she be? The baby was her granddaughter after all.
This was another strange thing to him.
Their sister Ella who was mute was lost and forgotten for three long years, everyone thinking that she died. However, she also emerged out of nowhere.
Everything was becoming too perfect around them and the lack of the reason behind that perfection was making him struggle every day with the same thoughts.
He was sure that was also the reason Sebastian always went and walked in the garden to clear his head every time after a long meeting.
He probably thinks the same things as him but doesn’t mention them to anyone. Then again, though he was made the King, they didn’t really have the best relationship with the man.
Not after what Prince Angelo did.
However after Mom Freya and Dad Noah’s begging, Sebastian took back his verdict and didn’t decide on his killing.
Now Prince Angelo works in the dungeons all the time. He is allowed to meet the family every once in a while. If his behavior stayed right, Sebastian said he would allow the man to come back and live with the family.
"Sir, are you coming?" Desmond asked again when he saw his prince was getting lost in his own thoughts once again.
"Hmm? Yeah. I am coming. Can you ask Lucas- Never mind. That guy is out of my understanding. I will ask Sebastian directly if he wants to come with us," Prince Stephano said before he walked out and went straight to the garden.
He saw his brother standing at the entrance of the greenhouse garden, looking at the inside with a dazed expression.
’It’s not his fault. I loved him too much,’
Prince Stephano heard a voice in his head, and a sense of Deja vu hit him, making him look around with his pupils dilated.
What was that? Why did it almost feel like he heard a girl’s painful cry?
"Speak what you want to say. Stop standing there and creeping others," King Sebastian said, and Prince Stephano rolled his eyes.
"All this time of teaching you and you still haven’t learned any manners. Is this the way to talk to your eldest brother?" Stephano asked before he rolled his eyes.
What was he doing really? Trying to put some manners in his thick head? Even after knowing it was useless?
"Nevermind. We are going to meet our sister Ella. Are you coming?" Stephano asked, and Sebastian turned around, his hazel eyes neutral and void of any emotions.
"Didn’t you guys go there in the morning too? Do you think it’s appropriate to go to someone’s house again and again like this?" Sebastian asked and Stephano sighed.
"Can I really help with that? Are you coming or not? I think you should come. Everyone has gone to meet the baby at least 20 times already. You are the only one who has yet to see her. Believe me, you will love her. She is cute," Stephano said.
Sebastian scoffed, his cold voice reverberating a little.
"I don’t remember finding anything cute ever. Don’t forget who I am. What if I fall for her soft flesh and want to sink my teeth in her so-called neck? I bet her soft heart would taste even lovely," Sebastian said.
Stephano looked at his brother for some time before he shook his head.
"Why do I even bother? Tell me if you are coming or not. And don’t you dare say something like that in front of a mother who would pull out your eyes for even looking at her daughter with those hungry eyes," Stephano said?
Sebastian sighed. The only reason he wasn’t going there was because he didn’t want to face sister Ella. The entire family uses her against him whenever they want him to do something.
He looked at the rose gardens before humming.
"I have some work in that area anyway," Sebastian said before he went out.
