Chapter 659: Emptiness

Sebastian entered his room to change his clothes and looked at the balcony that was left open, making him sigh.

’It’s beautiful here,’ A voice inside his head said, and Sebastian stopped for a brief second before shaking his head.

It was the same voice that had been troubling him ever since he opened his eyes after that war a year ago.

Sometimes it feels like this voice belongs to someone else.

Then again, the words usually appear in his own voice only. The only difference is that they are so random that it makes him feel like someone else is saying this or he has lived this moment before.

Shaking his head, Sebastian walked to the balcony and closed the door, his gaze falling on his bed before he shook his head.

Sometimes he feels like he is haunted by some kind of ghost or something. Or what would explain his uneasiness as if he is always expecting to see someone in the room.

Was he starting to feel lonely?

No. What the hell was he thinking? It was surely because his grandfather had been pestering him about finding a woman so they could see an heir to the throne soon.

In fact, all the princes were pestered for the same thing.

They were seriously making it look like they weren’t looking for a wife for them, but a breeder for them. Things have gone even more downhill from the moment they saw elder Sister Ella’s daughter. It’s like all of them have gotten possessed or something.

Sebastian quickly changed into formal attire before walking out of his room.

"I might be late in the evening. Don’t prepare too much for me," Sebastian said to the chef and Miss Zoya before leaving his Black Skull palace.

Even though he has become the King and should be practically living with the rest of his family, maybe it was because of years of living alone that he finds more peace and comfort living alone.

He met with the rest of the family including his grandfather and grandmother along with Mom Freya, Dad Noah, and Stephano, right outside of Duke Marcello’s house.

The guards who were guarding the place immediately opened the door, and he walked in, looking around carefully to ensure the house was well secured. Though living alone, this woman was still royalty and he wanted to protect her at all costs.

It was like a silent promise he made to himself some time ago that he doesn’t even remember.

"Are you going to come inside?" Sebastian asked Lucas, who nodded blankly.

Sebastian sighed.

Around him, Lucas was one of the people who changed drastically after the war. From his usual over-annoying self, he has gone to being completely quiet.

He didn’t know what it was all about, but whenever he tried to talk to the man about his feelings, Lucas always said that whenever he tried to be happy and smile, he felt guilty in his heart and then that guilt consumed him totally.

That was why it was better to stay neutral to everything. Neither will he be happy, nor will he be guilty of it.

"Let’s go," Sebastian said as they entered the modest house which was relatively big for two people to live in.

"Sebastian, come here. Look," Mom Freya said excitedly, and the man walked ahead with his secretary.

He looked at the little girl who was giggling softly, making baby noises.

Everyone noticed how Sebastian’s cold demeanor turned immediately soft as soon as he saw the baby.

Abramo looked at his wife as if telling her that he was right and their grandson lacked a woman by his side. He was ready to start a family.

"What’s her name?" Sebastian asked as he took the glass of water from the maid, and Ella looked up from her daughter.

"She is my moon and Sun. I named her Eli," Ella signed, and the girl who was there to interpret the sign language told them what she was saying.

As soon as Sebastian heard that name, the glass slipped from his hand and broke into tiny shards, surprising everyone.

The sudden noise startled the baby too and she started to cry, making Sebastian mutter a quick apology.

"Eli?" Sebastian asked, the foreign word rolling from his lips as if it was some kind of spell, and he gulped, unsure as to why he felt the sudden twinge in his heart.

"Elliana?" He whispered softly, surprising everyone.

"Why would you say that name?" Ella signed. She was the one with the most extreme reaction and Sebastian shrugged his shoulders.

He didn’t know why he said that name either. It just felt fitting at that moment. He stepped aside as the maid came to clean the mess, his gaze falling on Lucas.

Right.

"I read the name on his hand," Sebastian said, finally remembering where he saw the name, and everyone turned to Lucas to know if that was the truth.

Lucas rolled the sleeves of his left hand and looked at the name that he had carved on his hand after the war.

He remembered that he carved this name at that time only, but why would he do that, it was a mystery to him. He just knew that he had some kind of history with this name, which was buried deep inside his heart.

"Must be Lucas’s long-lost girlfriend," Mom Freya said.

"It’s not the case," Sebastian said immediately, his beast standing alert, surprising everyone for the second time before clearing his throat.

"I mean, how is it possible that the girl was his long-lost girlfriend and he can’t even remember a thing about her? In fact, none of us remember any girl with that name around him," Sebastian explained, and everyone nodded in understanding.

Everyone looked away, apart from Ella who looked at Sebastian closely.

"Ella, I think it’s time to feed the baby," Mom Freya’s words snapped her out of her thoughts, and Ella looked at her baby.

"I fed her recently, Mom. Do you want to take her?" She signed, and Mom Freya nodded like a happy kid, making everyone smile at her enthusiasm.

Ella stood from her place and went to the kitchen to prepare food.

"Why are you preparing food? Where is the chef? Should I call mine?" Sebastian walked behind her, and the lady smiled.

"I am cooking because I like my own cooking better and feeding Marcello what I prepare only. Also -" Ella signed and was about to sign more when Aubrey walked inside the kitchen.

She looked at the brother and sister bonding and couldn’t help but smile.

Since starting Ella was the only person in the family that Sebastian liked talking to.

"Ella, he doesn’t listen to us, but why don’t you pester him? Is this right for him to act like this? We are asking him to meet the daughter of Duke Caine. She is a good girl. We have seen her since she was a kid. It would be a good match. We are not forcing him to get married immediately. But he can get to know her at least, can’t he?" Aubrey said, and Ella looked at her brother, who rolled his eyes.

She wanted to tell her grandmother to leave the matters in the moon goddess’s hands, but her grandmother was kind of right too.

Ella wasn’t like everyone else. Because of her pregnancy, the spells didn’t work on her strongly and she remembered bits of what happened.

She knew about the girl who saved her life time after time and wanted to contact her. However, when the witches from the witch kingdom found out about that, they contacted her first and told her the bad news.

That Elliana couldn’t make it.

Since the girl was dead, was there any use holding onto her? Her brother needs to be with someone to forget the past too.

"I think you should go," Ella signed, and Sebastian scowled.

"Why are you siding with them too?" Sebastian groaned, and Ella smiled at him.

"Stop acting like a baby. At your age, your father already had you," Ella signed and this time Sebastian didn’t have anything to rebuke, anything other than how his brothers were all single too.

However, all of them were now at least seeing someone or the other, not like him, completely hopeless.

"Fine. I will meet her. But don’t pressure me to get married soon," Sebastian sighed, feeling another pang in his heart at the mention of the word marriage.

With a dejected sigh, he left the room.
