The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride-Chapter 668: Uneasy feeling
Chapter 668: Uneasy feeling
Lucas didn’t return even after half an hour and Sebastian was growing thin on patience.
The lecture was almost over and since these people didn’t have any further lectures because their professors left for the urgent meeting with the dean regarding some project, everyone started to come out of their classes.
Sebastian was about to stand and leave the girl on her own because he was running out of topics to keep himself from going all invading privacy mode once again.
However, he had only walked a couple of steps when he saw a boy walking to Elliana’s table and pulling the chair right beside her, staring at her.
Though the boys’ gaze wasn’t hostile, it wasn’t exactly friendly either and Sebastian stopped.
He wanted to walk back to the table and ask her if everything was alright because the girl was Samantha’s friend and one of the students of the exchange program and he didn’t want anything to ruin the vampire kingdom’s reputation.
He saw a few more guys walking to the table, but no one dared to pull a chair and sit beside her.
They stood behind the guy like some lackeys or low-key followers.
He just stood there at some distance, pretending to be busy with his phone as he heard their conversation.
"So, are you ready?" The guy asked Elliana.
Ready? Ready for what? Were they trying to do something mischievous?
"Ready to beat your ass at your own game?" Elliana smirked, not at all scared, and as Sebastian looked at the guy, he finally recognized him as the finance minister’s son.
He saw Samantha and her friends coming inside the canteen from the other side and noticed how the boys immediately got a bit alert while Samantha and Melony furrowed their brows.
"Princess Samantha," Sebastian said, his voice cold and void of emotions as he called her name, and the girl nearly froze in her place before looking at her cousin.
"Yes, brother, I mean, King Sebastian," Samantha quickly added, a bit afraid.
"This guy, sitting with your friend, doesn’t look like he is fond of her. Is everything okay?" Sebastian asked and Samantha looked at Dexter, who was in a staring competition with Elliana.
"Can everything really be okay when it’s related to Elliana?" Samantha muttered under her breath but Sebastian easily caught it.
He was about to ask what she meant by those words when Samantha looked at him.
"Brother, does Brother Vincenzo still sponsor those illegal bike races?" She asked, her question catching Sebastian completely off-guard because of its irrelevance.
But he still nodded in reply and Samantha sighed.
"Well, you can congratulate him and ask him to come to the racing court today because he will finally get to see the race of the year. Isn’t that exactly why he keeps sponsoring these races?" Samantha said.
Sebastian observed how her gaze was focused on Elliana and that guy, and he asked something that didn’t even make sense to him.
He knew that the guy sitting there was known for his racing skills because Vincenzo mentioned his name a couple of times whenever asked who was leading the racing circuit these days.
Thus, the question was inevitable either way.
"You don’t mean to say that this girl is going to race, do you?" He asked and Samantha exhaled a deep breath.
"That’s exactly what is going to happen, brother. That’s why they are in this weird staring competition," Samantha said.
Sebastian looked at the girl, a little surprised.
He knew she was quite daring the moment she dared to call him a monster right in his face even after knowing who he was, but he didn’t know she was daring to this level.
"On the hill?" Sebastian asked and Samantha nodded.
He was about to ask the timing when Alcinder walked to them and bowed to him.
Sebastian didn’t say anything else and just left the canteen, wanting to find his subordinate who disappeared without telling him anything.
He dialed Lucas’s number as soon as he exited the place.
"Yes, sir," Lucas said without remorse.
"What yes sir? Where the hell are you?" Sebastian asked, making Lucas furrowed his brows.
"I am back at the office, sir," He said, a bit confused.
Sebastian - "..." He was here waiting for his arrival for the past hour, talking just about anything with a little witch who was savage as hell in her replies all because his closest subordinate wanted to talk to her and look at him, casually saying he was at the office.
"Didn’t you say you wanted to talk to that little witch?" Sebastian asked, unsure if he was missing something.
"I wanted to, sir. But Prince Stephano gave me urgent work to handle the case of the rogue wolves that have started to linger in the forests out of the blue. I messaged you about it. Didn’t you read it?" Lucas asked. freeweɓnøvel.com
Sebastian opened the messaging app, glaring at the message as if it were some kind of curse written in an ancient language.
"Even if you hadn’t read my message. Why didn’t you call me earlier? I thought you went some other way to deal with the vampire Duke along with Marcello," Lucas said, making Sebastian even angrier than before.
Why didn’t he call him earlier? That was a question even he wanted to hear the answer to.
But was he ready to admit his mistake? Of course not.
"Don’t give me such pesky excuses. Do you have any idea how much time I wasted because of you? Because you wanted to talk to her? You are seriously turning ungrateful with each passing second. Now focus on your work!" Sebastian said angrily before ending the call.
He turned around to look at the canteen one last time, his heart almost leaping out of his mouth when he saw Elliana standing right behind him, with less than a few inches difference.
"What the hell are you doing sneaking on a king?" He asked and Elliana rolled her eyes.
"You forgot your wallet," She said before taking his hand in hers to put the wallet there.
However, as soon as she held his hand, she felt a weird ache in her heart as if someone twisted the dagger that had always been in her chest and she took a sharp breath before placing the wallet and leaving it quickly.
She didn’t dare to look back, unsure of what this weird feeling was.
Sebastian looked at the place where that girl was standing before he released a breath he did not even know he was holding until she left.
This feeling... What was this feeling?
Like there was some kind of undefined connection between them?
Deep in his thoughts, Sebastian couldn’t help himself anymore as he dialed a number.
"Change the earlier task. Elliana Minerva, a witch studying in the witch University which has come to the vampire Kingdom as an exchange program, I want every single little detail about her. Whatever it is," Sebastian said before ending the call.
He was trying to avoid any controversy with this species that has mended their relationship with them only recently, but it looks like he wasn’t left with any choice anymore.
