The Seven Sisters and Their Hidden King-Chapter 166: Providence College
Chapter 166 - 166: Providence College
There were seven amulets in total, each imbued with a Mind Circle enchantment.
Every sister had one.
Only Angela and Anita hadn't received theirs yet—because they hadn't seen each other in person.
The most amusing case, however, was Bertha.
During the three days she spent at home, Bertha kept a constant eye on John. She called him a "little bastard" at every turn, accusing him of harboring shady intentions. The phrase "Little bastard, stay away from me," had practically become her personal slogan.
She clearly held a serious grudge against John ever since he'd thrown her into the lake.
So when he gave her the amulet, she was extremely wary, swearing she'd never wear the damned thing. But—on the day she returned to the Martial Arts League—she quietly tucked it into her belongings.
How adorable.
The principle behind the amulet lay within the Mind Circle etched into the stone. As long as the wearer whispered John's name, he could temporarily perceive their location and sense their immediate surroundings.
If any of them were in danger, he could rush to their aid without delay.
Unfortunately, John's cultivation wasn't strong enough yet. Otherwise, he could have engraved more complex arrays within the amulet to offer additional layers of protection. For now, this was the best he could do.
But that, too, would improve—with time.
Even though Kate had called the amulet "ugly," she still wore it proudly around her neck. It dangled against the snow-white cleavage of her chest, warming quickly from body heat and spiritual energy.
They spent the whole day together, roaming the streets of New York, enjoying each other's company. On the second day, John personally saw her off at the airport.
Afterward, he made his way to the Martial Arts League's New York base, using the Oracle Token to gain access to the underground facility.
"King of Horizon."
The moment Tristan saw him, he dropped to his knees in awe.
After escaping from the Branton Family that night, Tristan had rushed here to atone for his actions. He understood well: offending the King of Horizon was not something one could simply run away from.
John looked down at him and said, "Tristan, I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself. Protect Kate. But don't let her know, and don't interfere with her life. Once she returns safely, I'll release you."
Though John was not a formal member of the Martial Arts League, he wielded enough influence to pardon Tristan.
Hearing those words, Tristan bowed deeply. "I'm willing to devote myself wholeheartedly to your service."
John nodded faintly and left the base.
His next stop was the Wood Family residence.

By coincidence, Emily was home. Upon seeing John, her face lit up. "Doctor, the principal agreed to let you teach. But he said he'd like to meet you first."
John gave a small nod. "Alright. I'm free now."
Together, they headed to Providence College.
This was the first time John had set foot in a school environment. The students milling around looked about the same age as him—maybe two or three years younger or older at most.
If not for the fire that had upended his life, John would've been in college himself right now.
When he had seen Kate off at the airport earlier that morning, he had casually mentioned that he was going to teach Chinese medicine at Providence College.
Kate, ever the tease, had quipped, "University life is great. You should experience it."
He wanted to see for himself if this so-called college life was really as wonderful as she made it sound.
In the principal's office, they were greeted by Charles Lee, the president of Providence College. He greeted Emily with enthusiastic politeness.
Of course he did.
Who would dare be impolite?
Emily was a daughter of the prestigious Wood Family. Her role here was more of a personal exploration than a necessity—teaching was just a hobby. If she ever got bored, she could simply go home and inherit a billion-dollar empire.
When she applied to start a Chinese medicine elective course, Charles Lee had approved it immediately.
Besides, traditional Chinese medicine was a cultural treasure. Charles Lee believed it was important for young people to understand their heritage.
As for who would teach the class? Emily claimed she had invited the most popular doctor in all of New York.
The most popular doctor in New York.
Hearing that, Charles had been intrigued. He had, of course, heard of the mysterious young medical prodigy making waves in the city. If that person was really willing to teach here—it would be a tremendous honor for Providence College.
"This is Doctor Lopez," Emily said, gesturing with a smile.
"Doctor Lopez..." Charles looked at John, and his expression subtly shifted.
He had known this doctor was supposed to be young. But this young?
Charles had expected someone in his late thirties or early forties. After all, in the traditional medicine world, anyone under forty considered a "great doctor" was already extraordinary.
But John looked barely twenty.
Could this really be the same man rumored to have mentored Holbrook Davis, the imperial medical master?
It was hard to believe.
Emily wouldn't lie about something like this—but the situation still felt surreal.
Coincidentally, Charles had been feeling a bit off recently, so he decided to take this opportunity to evaluate John's ability for himself.
"Doctor Lopez," Charles began cautiously, "I've been feeling somewhat uncomfortable lately. Would you be willing to take a look?"
It was a tactful move—neither rude nor intrusive. He wasn't trying to challenge John, just assess whether someone so young could genuinely handle teaching a university class.
John, naturally, saw through Charles' cautious probing. But he didn't mind.
Smiling faintly, he said, "Alright. Place your arm on the table. I'll check your pulse."
Charles extended his arm obediently.
John pressed three fingers against his wrist, eyes closed, saying nothing for a moment. Then he opened them and spoke calmly:
"You've been feeling irritable lately. Your sleep is disturbed, and you wake up tired. You've even had persistent headaches—especially on both sides of your head. Am I right?"
