Chapter 459: With One Spear, Entering the Residence

There is a clash of interest between them.

But Aeryon believe that this matter could be solved diplomatically and there is no need for them to kill each other.

Maybe if he and Ayera has a child, Garron would even be open to the idea of passing the seat of the chief of Utgard to Aeryon son.

The reason why Aeryon think that this is possible is because Garron truly think of him as his son in law.

He never shows it and his word is full of barbed thorn but Aeryon once intercepted a letter from Garron to one of the surrendered chief in his tribe

Aeryon expected to read that Garron disparage him in that letter.

But he found the opposite.

While he did not gush on him, it is clear that Garron told that surrendered chief, he believes Aeryon is a powerful chief and when he make promises he would do his best to honour it.

He would not liquidate you when you have helped him and as long as you know your place, there would be no harm that would befall you

That is the words written in those letters. Among those are his appreciation of Aeryon itself.

It is from this intercepted letters that Aeryon learned, while his father-in-law does have some clash of interest with him, from his words Garron quite respected him

He even said in one letter "If I had a son like Aeryon, I would die without regrets!"

Just like Garron respected and even admire him, Aeryon also admire Garron and respected him

Heroes cherish heroes.

Garron gives him Ayera to be the bridge between Utgard and Brolgadhr.

They both admire and respected each other so how could Aeryon not feel uneasy when he heard Ogura the son of Garron to raise his arms in rebellion against his father?

Statistically, when the son rebel against the father in the Steppe, rarely the father would be left alive.

And Aeryon is not about to be optimistic about such statistic now.

Aeryon never expected this to happen. Because there was no trace of this internal problem

No, Aeryon thought to himself.

Maybe, this internal problem was always there. It is just that he is looking from the outside. And now he found out that Mayeux hide this matter from him

The golden hour to help....is it still there?

Or is it already closed?

He did not know.

But he does know that if he had known this earlier, he could have already sent help even when he is Wustkazan.

This would have helped delay aggression.

If Ogura were to find out that Brolgadhr supported his father, this tragedy of son and father killing each other probably could be averted.

Ogura must have attacked under the presumption that Brolgadhr tribe would not know this matter until the fact.

And his assumption would be right if not for the fact that Aeryon has always had many spies all around his territory.

All of the neighbouring tribe of Brolgadhr has his spies.

Aeryon use of spies is more rogained than any of the steppe tribes because he knows how information is the most important thing in warfare.

Even though not all of his policy and regiment for a true spy system is established yet, his effort has already create one of a kind spy organization in the Steppe.

And most Steppe tribes does not have spy organization.

They have spies but not an organization and those tribe that have spies, the spies that they have could b counted on one hand.

If the news is relayed on time, this tragedy could have been averted. But, Mayeux...he wanted this tragedy to play out.

All the words he was about to say to Mayeux dissipated. He wanted to get angry...but he could not.

He wanted to yell...but he could not. Because he knows that Mayeux did it for him and for the tribe.

All he did, all he ever did is stay true to his task. But this time, Aeryon could not compliment him. Because he truly sees Mayeux as a family

Some people said warlords should always look at the profit and loss of an action.

And most of the time, Aeryon could do that. He could forgive past grudges for the sake of the overall situation and he could let go things and do things if it could give him practical benefit.

But, he is also human. Staying true to his heart....is also important. If he could not do this with all the advantage he have, it would be better to die.

Aeryon knows then how to convince Mayeux. It is nothing more than to be stubborn.

"I want to raise an army and help him"

Mayeux raise his head and hold Aeryon wrist.

"Kan!"

Mayeux....how could he not see that Aeryon is being stubborn.

"Kan, you could raise an army and you could march upon Utgard , crush Ogura and save Chief Garron. But is this the right move?"

Aeryon look at Mayeux and his eyes narrows

...

While Aeryon and Mayeux is talking in the balcony, there is someone outside the residence of Mayeux.

A horse rushing through the sentry guards and patrol and basically broke into the compound of the military advisor.

A spear on his hand, he barged into the residence

The guards and the horsemen that patrol the residence of Mayeux all rushed toward this man with a spear.

All of them was defeated in one strike. Fortunately, the one who is attacking them is not intending to take their lives.

Most of them were either forced to lie down on the ground or knocked unconscious.

This man with the spear rush into the residence and grab a running servant.

When the servant saw who it was, the servant was very much shocked.

Because the servant recognize who it is.

Why would he be here?

But this question in his head could not be answered.

The man with the spear simply ask

"Where is the Military Advisor! Where is the Kan!"

The man in the spear has that same kind of aura like a superior person. It assaulted the mind and heart of the servant and the servant even though he did not say it, his eyes darted.

The man in the spear snorted and throws the servant to the side. And the man with the spear rushed toward that direction

All the while, The scream itself echoes all around the compound.

Aeryon who was with Mayeux heard the shout and frowned

Mayeux also frowned and then his expression turns to anger

"What is all this racket?" Mayeux could not have think that his residence is being broken right now.

He thought there might be some conflict between his servants and this anger him. Maybe he needs to discipline these servants so they would know better.

"Who is so bold!"

Mayeux was about to go to the main hall but Aeryon hold his arms.

Aeryon heard more than what Mayeux heard and his eyebrows raised a little and he become intrigued.

He shook his head.

Mayeux settled down

And then a few second later, a servant come and kneel in one knee in front of Mayeux.

"My lord. It is Burchu" Hearing this Mayeux was shocked. Why is Burchu coming here all of a sudden and make such a fuss?

Aeryon hearing that it is Burchu narrows his eyes

"Haish. I didn’t thought she would do this kind of thing. Desperate people.....do desperate things" He mutters to himself

He could guess what had happened.

Aeryon look at the servant

"Tell the others to stand down and let Burchu come here" The servant of course knows the Kan.

Between his lord and the Kan, everyone knows that the Kan orders are more important.

It is not like in Yan where the servants of a noble would only follow the words of their lord.

That is Yan. This is the Great Steppe.

The chief of the tribe might control a smaller population and have smaller territory, but their power is more absolute and more penetrating than the emperor of Yan who could only rule the city around the imperial capital and rely on prestige to control the other regions.

And Yan is different from the Brolgadhr tribe.

Yan founding emperor probably have the same kind of power and prestige to command the world during the early Yan dynasty.

But right now, Yan is already at the end of its breath.

The power of the Emperor did not reach the countryside

Aeryon could be considered the founding father of this new Brolgadhr tribe. His influence, prestige and charisma overwhelmed everyone in the tribe.

Even Mayeux will not feel at all offended. After all, this is the custom of the Steppe.

There is no nobles and the emperor ruling the world together.

At least, it did not yet reach that point

The servants nodded and quickly goes to the main hall.

Burchu was in a rampage right now.

He did not kill anyone but he did hurt them and make them unconscious.

He uses the back of his spear and sometimes even uses the handle to knock his enemy unconscious.

It would probably take these people a few week to recuperate.

After all, even though he did hold back, Burchu is not an ordinary warrior.

Even Aeryon commend on his bravery and his spear method. How could someone that is praised by Aeryon after a battle be someone mediocre?
